Create an exponent expression that simplifies to 3^-2. That means a base of 2 and an exponent of -2. Remember not to repeat someone elses expression. Feel free to use the rule for multiplying or dividing like bases to create your expression.
3^6 divided by 3^8 equals 3^2. I'm not sure if I'm right or if I could write it like that. Also, Melanie, I'm not sure if that's right. I don't think I'm sure what you were thinking of, but, I know you're on the right track. I just don't want to give you the wrong answer while being unmindful. :D
I would like to also comment on Vita's post. I like the way that you presented your thoughts. It was very organized, short and simple. It was very easy for me to understand :) Good Job!!
I would like to comment on Andrews post. I think that it is very simple. Even though it may be correct, i think it would be better for you to challenge yourself a bit more.
I say that a good expression to use is 3^28 divided by 3^30. Another expression to use is 3^-98x3^96. -98 + 96 equals -2. Also, 28-30 equals -2. Then you just use 3 as your base and keep it the same.
I like Milana's answer because it is very accurate and detailed, and it shows why she got her answer. Although, I'd like to tell Milana to think of a more innovative expression, because her answer was easy as pie. Something more challenging, which can get the mind in a twist, like my problem.
Oops, sorry! That should say a base of 3 and an exponent of -2!!!Oops, sorry! That should say a base of 3 and an exponent of -2!!!Oops, sorry! That should say a base of 3 and an exponent of -2!!!
3^16/3^18 is 3^-2, because when you multiply exponents with the same base, you subtract the exponent. You have to do 16-18, which is -2, and you keep the base. The answer will be 3^-2.
I think queensuravi99 is suravi from class 723 (my class)
The way i got this answer would be by subtracting the exponents which is 10 and 12 and that will give me a negative 2. You keep the base the same and the answer would be 3^-2.
I would like to comment on Alina's answer. Alina I really like how you explained your expression thoroughly and I understood it very well. Fantastic Job!! ;)
This question doesn't exactly have to do with this post. But, for the carousel project on step 6, do you mean carousel rides, or the circles on the ride? Thanks
I just posted a new question. I have not added extra credit points yet. You can get a maximum of 5 points - this included. Some learning has to be just for the sake of learning:) Elvira...not exactly sure what you are asking. It is really the same thing. The ride is going around the circle.
Oops, sorry! That should say a base of 3 and an exponent of -2!!!
ReplyDeleteHere is my expression: I am not completely sure that it is correct though...
ReplyDelete3^-4 / 3^-2
IM NOT SURE THOUGH!!!! PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG!!
3^6 divided by 3^8 equals 3^2.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I'm right or if I could write it like that.

Sorry, I mean "equals 3^-2"
ReplyDeletequeensuravi, im pretty sure thats correct and melanie yours is also correct due to my calcuations
ReplyDeletegood job
milana aminova 724
i think the answer to mrs norwich's question is...
ReplyDelete3^1/3^3
this is the right answer because if you subtract 1-3, it would = -2 and the base stays the same, which is three. thats why the answer is 3^-2
Great job girls! All of you are correct!
ReplyDeleteThank guys but i still need one more opinion on my post. Also queensuravi99 is. Sorry, Thanks any way!!
ReplyDeleteoh thanks ms. norwhich! sorry i didnt see that comment before i wrote mine...
ReplyDeleteMy expression is...
ReplyDelete3^2/3^4 = 3^-2
Explanation - I did my answer by subtracting 2-4. Then, I did keep, change, change, and it was 2+-4 which equals -2.

oh and i meant to say WHO is queensuravi99 sorry again!!

ReplyDeleteThank you Melanie!! :)
ReplyDeleteFor the question, a possible answer could be 3^500/3^502 = 3^-2
ReplyDelete3^-2 x 1

ReplyDeleteSorry for spamming. I just wanted to try it out somewhere where it won't cause any problems.
ReplyDeleteSorry for repeating my questions but can queensuravi99 please reveal her identity?? or someone who knows who she is...
ReplyDelete3^16/3^18=3^-2

Ohh on wonder i dont know her, lol kk thx
ReplyDelete3^10 - 3^12=3^-2

ReplyDelete~Vita.
Thank You Vita! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry Melanie, I didn't come to Honors Math in a while. I'm Suravi Paul from 723, which Alice already mentioned. Sorry!!!!
ReplyDeleteits ok! I know who you r now anyways :DDD
ReplyDeletewhen will there be a new question to answer?
ReplyDeleteidk thats what i was wondering and also, did these ec points count toward the 4th post test?
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I don't think that she added the extra credit points. But I am not sure we should double check that with her tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteok thanks
ReplyDeleteno problem, anytime!! ;)
