I'm still kind of confused about the keep change change thing, if you have more than two numbers do you keep change change then keep changing or do you only keep change change it once?
Mia, to simplify you question, if there is more than two numbers you keep change change and then simlify the first to numbers and then change change again. If your confused, here's a sample problem.
Example: -8 - (-5) - 3 = ?
Okay, so first you keep the -8. Then you change the subtraction sign to a addition sign. Then again, change the -5 to 5. So far you have -8 + 5. Simplify that -8 + 5 = -3. Then you use the other 3 which makes the problem -3 + 3. The answer is 0. That is an easier way for me. If you are still confused, ask me tomorrow in class.
Also i didn't understand what Ona did in the sample question! The only part i didn't get was when she said "Simplify that -8 + 5 = -3. Then you use the other 3 which makes the problem -3 + 3. The answer is 0."
We only had Impact Page 148 #7-18 on Wednesday 10/19. Then for Thursday 10/20 we had to finish the Roller Coaster Activity because it is due next Friday. We didn't have any homework on Friday because we were on the trip.
Ana, i know, right? The page doesn't even have any questions.i checked all of our math books but surprisingly none of them had questions 9-16 on their page 181's. I'm just doing page 173 9-16 cause it's about scientific notation and stuff. It's weird how she assigned us a homework that couldn't be done.
i hate it how we have to type a confirmation word to enter the comment or question we want to post. It's so lame. It's like asking if the person who's posting knows how to read...
Nickie and Nikhil, Really? You don't know when the project is due? I said it was due the same day as the test...Nov. 14th.
Also, if you have a question on homework, or anything else, email me directly: rnorwich@schools.nyc.gov. That way I can answer the question if your classmates don't know the answer.
Oh, did anyone check their exponent story grades? I would be surprised if everyone didn't get a 4. it was easy. (No, I do not think everything is easy.) BTW, the story was my favorite mini-project so far.
To mrs n .... About the carrousel project I'm having trouble with the horse speed can I come to u after school on Monday and hand in project on tuesday ......ok thanks

ReplyDeleteAfter you simplify the first pair of numbers... You end up with 3 + -3 = 0
ReplyDeleteThe original problem was -8 - (-5) -3
It becomes -8 + 5 - 3
-3 + 3

ReplyDelete(-w)(-w)(-w)(-w)(-w) =??????? is it -w^5 or w^-5??
thanks, please also explain why it is what it is...thanks!!
It is (-w)^5 because the base is -w and the exponent is 5 because you are multiplying -w 5 times
